We finished off the summer with an amazing family trip to Lake George. We are lucky to live near the Long Island sound and a beach so the last few summers we have enjoyed lake and mountain adventures to close the summer out. This year we chose a destination and resort that was pet friendly. We welcomed a new puppy into our family in June. We left her earlier in the summer to visit family at the beach in NJ and Delaware and didn’t want to leave her again.
A friend recommended the Sagamore Resort and we are SO glad they did. We stayed in a spacious lodge room that had a mini kitchen and was perfect for our family. The adorable little town of Bolton Landing is about 1/2 mile away and had a grocery store for supplies as as well as fun pet friendly restaurants. Our only complaint about The Sagamore was there was no place besides your room to eat or drink with a pet. The pros out weighed the small con and we had a fabulous trip.
Highlights of our Family Vacation in Lake George at the The Sagamore Resort
There is a beautiful heated pool next to an indoor pool (when it is cold or raining).
The Rec Center was one of the major highlights and makes the resort super unique. They had a rock climbing wall, small turf baseball field, basketball court, 9 hole mini golf course, ping pong, air hockey and more! Outside they had pickle ball courts, tennis courts, a small turf soccer field as well as basketball court and a playground.
We loved jumping off the dock into the lake and they had a super fun section of floats. It was also fun to try some fishing off the pier (you do need to bring your own fishing poles).
It was really nice they had an ice-cream social everyday at 3:30 and s’mores every night after dinner.
We rented a boat one day and it was great to get out into the lake and do some swimming and tubing. There is a ranger station and little island where you can buy ice-cream which was a fun surprise.
Since this is a food blog, I must finally comment on the food. We only ate dinner at the resort. We had easy breakfasts in the room since there was a small kitchen. For lunch in Bolton Landing, Cate’s Pizza and the Huddle were delicious and both pet friendly. For dinner we had lovely meals at the Pavilion, La Bella Vita, and Mr. Brown’s Pub.
Lastly, you cannot beat the views – our children have asked us to book for next year again!
