We are all trying to stay healthy and pack in extra nutrients and vitamins so I thought it would be helpful to share two of our favorite green smoothies over the next week. First up this healthy kid friendly green smoothie has only 4 simple ingredients plus ice and water.

If I called it a green smoothie my children wouldn’t drink it so with St. Patrick’s Day coming up I am currently calling it a lucky leprechaun – you can tell them the leprechaun dyed it green😉. At other times we have called it a green ninja or green monster – you can choose whatever you think will works for you! This Healthy Kid Friendly Green Smoothie is super simple too and made with regularly stocked ingredients. I try to always have a bag of frozen fruit in the freezer and buy apples and bananas weekly.
Simply core or chop your apple and then let the blender do the rest of the work. I measure the water right in the blender, grab a handful of ice and you can eyeball the frozen pineapple/mango. I use and love my vitamix, but any other high speed blender should work! If you are looking and for an extra immune booster I have added lemon and ginger. I only add it for me, my children do not like it that way! For all adaptations check out the notes section of the recipe.

Healthy Kid Friendly Green Smoothie
- 1 Medium Banana
- 1 Medium Apple
- 2-3 ounces or 2 Big handfuls of Spinach or Kale (see notes)
- 1 cup (heaping) frozen mango or pineapple or a combination of both (see notes)
- 1/2 cup or a large handful of ice
- 1 Cup Water
- Core and cut Apple into large chunks
- Put all ingredients into a high speed blender
- Blend until thoroughly combined
- Enjoy
1. Kale has a bit of a stronger taste and my children prefer the smoothie when I make it with spinach
2. I use a bag of frozen pineapple and mango and our favorite seems to be the combination of both. Not everyone loves the all pineapple taste. You can use whichever your family prefers.
3. This makes about 32oz which makes enough for all of us to have small smoothies with our breakfast or enough for 2-3 days for one adult. Or you can double it and make a big batch for the week. It can last up to 3-4 days in the fridge in a sealed jar. It will separate but just shake it up and enjoy the same!
4. If you have all fresh fruit just add some extra ice.
5. If I am making this just for me I love the addition of a half of squeezed lemon and a dash of ginger juice.
6. I sometimes add a tbsp of ground flax seed for an added boost as well!
