We have been enjoying these so much for football watching that I needed to share.  I am highlighting these for game watching, but they are really perfect for any get together. Turkey Bacon Wrapped Dates are great because they are super easy to grab and eat at a gathering and great for both kids and adults.

Crispy Turkey Bacon Wrapped Dates Appetizer - Photo

I made a lightened up version of the classic appetizer by using turkey bacon.  Turkey bacon has fewer calories, less fat, and less sodium. If prepared properly (that’s key) it can be every bit as tasty and crispy as pork bacon.  We really love it as a staple in our house.  If you are looking for other uses for turkey bacon you can check these out: turkey bacon egg muffins, lunch boxes or pizza.

Back to these yummy bites – I just love how simple and easy they are to make.  Both my kids enjoy helping with this one.   Check out a quick video to see me and my son show you how to make them here.

Easy Turkey Bacon Wrapped Dates - Photo

Many recipes for bacon or turkey bacon wrapped dates use goat cheese.  We changed it up and like to make it with our favorites – manchego or gruyere.  If you have a favorite combination of this recipe comment below!

Keyword:5 Ingredients or less, Appetizers, crowd pleasers, game day food, Gluten Free, Holiday, Kid Friendly, snacks

Ingredients

  • 10 pieces of Turkey Bacon
  • 20 pitted dates
  • 20 pieces of cheese we like manchego or gruyere but you could also use cheddar or Gouda cut about 1/4 inch thick and 1/2 inch long
  • 20 to othpicks

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425 and line a half sheet pan with parchment paper
  • Cut the bacon in half so you have 20 halves
  • Push or fold a piece of cheese into a date, wrap a half of piece of bacon around and then secure with a toothpick. If the date breaks open that is ok the bacon and the toothpick will hold the cheese in- it does not have to be perfect!
  • Continue stuffing and wrapping process with remaining 19 dates.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until crispy. Serve immediately.
